Slow Cooker Turkey Bolognese

Ingredients
  

  • 1 28 oz can Tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 small carrots diced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 1/3 lbs ground turkey

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to the slow cooker except turkey and stir to combine.
  • Bread ground turkey into cubes, add to slow cooker and cover with sauce.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Use potato masher to break up turkey at the end to make a meat sauce.
  • Serve over linguini or spaghetti.

Notes

What to serve with it: We love this with a simple steamed or sautéed veggie.  We also enjoy it with a salad.  
Helping Hands:  If my kids want to help with this recipe, I have them help mix all of the sauce ingredients before I add the meat.  It's not a big job, but they often like being involved.
