Applesauce Bread

Course Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour sifted
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup unsweetened plain applesauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray. 
  • Place butter and sugar in the bowl of your stand mixer and beat on medium speed until light.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy.
  • In a medium bowl stir together all purpose flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • With mixer on low, add about one third of the dry ingredients to mixer and mix until blended.  Then add about one third of the applesauce and mix until blended.  Continue to alternate between dry ingredients and applesauce until all is incorporated.
  • Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes until cooked through.
  • Place pan on cooling rack and after about 5-10 minutes, turn bread out of the pan onto the cooling rack and cool completely.
